Graceville School Accelerated Reader Program

The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. A student’s individual reading level is tested at least 4 times a year, and an AR goal is set based on their reading level. A goal is the total number of points a student should accumulate by the end of the nine weeks. A part of the student’s goal is also an 85% average on comprehension for the 9 weeks. The program tracks their progress over the course of a school year. When implemented properly, students’ reading levels will increase over time. For more in depth information, visit the
